Steve is Managing Partner of WhiteLabel, a financial advisory firm that is a trusted adviser to high-growth companies, social enterprises, and nonprofits. He has more than 25-years of experience as a C-suite executive, venture capitalist, portfolio manager, and investment banker.

During his career, he helped to build and run four asset management firms, developed four research businesses on three different continents and restructured and turned around a multi-billion-dollar division of a major bank, post a major scandal.

As a portfolio manager/investment banker, he sourced, analyzed, structured, and successfully exited or placed more than $10 billion in investments across all sectors and stages of companies, most asset classes and in more than 60 countries. As a venture investor, he has invested in several unicorns and has had four portfolio companies IPO. He has invested in many companies across the clean-energy/climate/resilience space.

As an on-demand executive, Steve has worked with companies, from seed-stage start-up to publicly traded, helping them solve problems around finance, operations, and strategy. He has helped firms raise capital, prepare for exit, target and complete acquisitions, and secure follow-on funding.

As a consultant, Steve has structured many significant, and several benchmark, funds and facilities aimed at solving complex social problems. Clients include governments, large multinational companies, development finance institutions, foundations, non-profits, and NGOs.

Steve began his professional career as a journalist, working as a staffer at Forbes and The Associated Press. His writing/commentary on economics, finance, entrepreneurship has appeared in many publications including: The Economist, The New York Times, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, Stanford Social Innovation Review and The Hockey Digest.

Steve is an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service, where he teaches a graduate-level class on Finance. He is also an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at NYSERDA.

Steve has a Master’s Degree in International Finance and Business from Columbia University’s School of International Affairs, where he was an International Fellow and Dean’s Scholar, and a BA, with High Honors, from New York University where he was a Founder’s Day Award Winner and University Scholar.
